The 33rd annual Na Opio Youth Arts Show and Competition remains on display at Waimea Arts Council’s Firehouse Gallery through Sunday.
The show, which celebrates March being National Youth Art Month, features artists in grades six through 12 who attend school or are home-schooled in the North and South Kohala and Hamakua districts.
Awards for first, second and third place winners were announced for each grade level following the exhibit’s opening reception earlier this month. The judge for this year’s show was Carrie Edgil, who teaches middle school special education at Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School and holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master’s degree in the arts of teaching from the University of San Francisco.
